Great bang for the buck!To make sure the drill head is directly over the center of the base is to use a good old fashioned plumb bob. Simply tighten up the chuck and let the bob hang down. Once you've got it centered, tighten up the 2 hex set nuts on the column. Repeat the same steps for the vertical table guide. Tighten up the "one" collar hex nut once the guide is plumb. The only thing that needs modifying is the belt housing unit. It vibrates to no end. A quick fix is to use a velcro strap wrapped tightly around the housing to eliminate the excess noise. Finally, use the HTC mobile base using 4x4's and 3/4" plywood. It REALLY makes this unit stable.

One for the Money, Two for the ShowBoth saws had the exact same problem: the fixed detent place was off for both 45s and the 90. No way to adjust this problem, so I took the plate completely off on the replacement saw, and am using an Incra Guaranteed Square and an Incra Guaranteed 45 to set the saw. Tollerances on the Incra are guaranteed at an amazing .0001 along the entire blade. Didn't even try the blade that came with the machine. Instead am using a Freud 96T Ultimate Cutoff blade. Kind of a pain to set the saw each time, but I use it to cut picture frames, and they must be perfect. Too bad the company can't make the plate to exacting standards. I really would have liked to have used the maching and not set it each time. But it's okay. With the plate missing, it sets with twist of the wrist of the handle without messing with holding down the detent stop.
Otherwise great saw. Starts up without a bang like my old Ridged. Lasers are parallel and adjust nicely for the new blade. Real satisified now. Again, thank you Amazon for the service.
Nice cut

Rock solid - worth every pennyThe 40-031 table is a very well built table that just feels solid and well made. It attached to my new Delta hybrid table saw in 30 minutes or less and is saving me space AND increasing the quality of my routings.
One of the bolts for the fence was machined improperly, but one call to Bench Dog had one in my hand within a week. They definately have quality customer service.
Although it's not cheap, the 40-031 is worth every penny. You will not go wrong with this router table!
Happy Routing!
Love it!!This is a great piece of metal and really enhances the tablesaw.

Update to previous reviewSince writing my review I've talked with Delta, other woodworkers, and retailers at length. I've learned quite a bit about the tool, specifically where it has been made and why Delta had to make certain decisions throughout the life of this tool. Everyone believes (or hopes) that the customer service problems we've all experienced with Delta stem from the company's many corporate changes - mergers, changes in ownership, parts/inventory changes, and the recent Porter Cable deal caused some pretty serious customer service problems.
The tool performs perfectly. The jointer is a gem.
Admittedly, the motor has done its job faithfully.
The Stand is sufficient and although customer service goofed up they deserve some slack due to all the changes they have had to deal with. Besides, they threw in a free set of knives and a heart-felt apology.
Who knows, maybe they'll bring the base back and resume using U.S made motor back in. You never know.
Solid and AccurateI've only checked flatness with my 12" Starrett rule and couldn't find any low spots or warping.
It did come with a defective knife guard (painted red in picture - aluminum). The pivot hole had been machined too large so it angled toward the table. Maybe should be 4 stars but rounding up since Delta sent me a replacement with zero hassles.
After nicking the blades bad enough to need replacing, I haven't been able to align new ones as well as the factory. Used Jointer-Pal and dial-indicator but when tightening the hold-down bolts the knives move a few hundredths. Probably user error.
On mine, top says made in Taiwan, cabinet says made in USA. I would buy this again without hesitation.
Industry StandardThe 8 inch capacity may seem limiting, but in reality this is not an issue. The parallelogram mechanism for both the in feed and out feed tables is superior to anything I've ever seen and it makes altering the depth of cut a snap. This machine is a beast as far as weight but a jointer needs to be heavy... really heavy. Nothing is more frustrating than a lightweight jointer "walking away" from you as you try and straighten lumber. My previous shop was in a basement, the DJ 20 slid down the stairs (with three people controlling it) like a dream. However, getting it out was interesting and took four strong men (three at the bottom pushing and one at the top pulling), ramps, dollies, tie down straps and a healthy amount of grunting... it was a miracle the three of us behind the machine came out alive.
One recommendation I would make for anyone considering the purchase of this machine is to get the mobile base. You may have the luxury of a permanent location for this machine, but the mobile base makes moving this monster so much easier. The mobile base also means someone is not reefing on your perfectly aligned in feed and out feed tables to get it to budge. Others have mentioned a problem with vibration. Mine had this issue when I first bought it, but I corrected this by ensuring that the motor and cutter head pulleys are in alignment. Dust collection is not an issue but don't buy the Delta attachment, as others have indicated it is for a 5" diameter hose. Instead buy a $5.00 plastic one and screw it to the cabinet, works just as well if not better.
When I purchased mine it was made in Brazil by Invicta. I'm not sure where the current models are made, but if Delta was smart they would not mess with something that was basically perfect and a standard piece of woodworking equipment in any shop dealing with solid wood. Highly recommended.

sweet deal !The machine arrived at 1PM and I had it put together by 2. The directions were easy to understand and all the parts were included. One suggestion to assemblers: flip over the rubber spacers below the blade cover plate to facilitate proper flushness to tabletop, a small dot of superglue applied to the spacers will also keep them from falling into saw guts during blade changes. Cosmetically, i would have thought they could get the front and rear chamfer of the extensions to match that of the tabletop. WD40 disolves the antirust wax on the bare metal tabletop. For a lifetime of rustfree use apply plain old turtle wax now and then, it's worked on my other saw for 20 years.

worth every penny
Perfect companion to the Bosch 5412LSo far, it's been awesome. It is very solid and with the casters locked, it doesn't move at all. Sure, you won't go lugging this setup to a jobsite but rolling it out of the basement and into the garage is easy. It was kind of a pain to put together, as the directions are pretty bad. In spite of this, beginning to end, including time to measure and drill the holes to bolt the saw to the top, was about two hours.
Someone else pointed out that it could be kind of topheavy, which is true, though that's true of a lot of stands. One little added benefit that I hadn't even considered was all of the space underneath. It's a great place to stash all of those bulky tool cases. When I'm working out in the garage, I can just roll this stand out there and everything (including my drills, router, circular saw etc) is right there where I need it.
I'm pretty picky when it comes to my tools. I would have no reservations about recommending this to any one in need of a good, stable miter saw stand.
Great Product

Quality less than expected1. The quality of the brackets and hardware are less than I expected. The bolts are very soft and strip easily. The two aluminum brackets that support the main tube were very poorly machined and not deburred. The steel brackets used for fine adjustment of the front and rear supports were poorly made. I had to run a 1/4 X 20 tap through all the brackets so the adjustment screws would screw in.
2. I was very disappointed in the quality of the clamping body of the fence. Granted, in this case it was only cosmetic flaws but I would have liked a cleaner, smoother clamping body. That said, when assembled on the saw I could move the fence left to right with light pressure from my index finger. It moves smooth and quiet.
3. The fence itself was quite nice and needed only to have the mounting holes deburred.
4. The instructions leave a lot to be desired and the illustrations barely earn a passing grade.
5. In short, had I known about the quality issues I would have purchased another fence. I will certainly replace all the bolts with grade 5 or higher and probably make new support brackets for the front tube. For the price it should have been better quality.
Vega less than responsive.
Great solid fence
