Delta Review The hoist was a good investment
Recently purchashed this planer, the DJ-20 jointer and Delta dust collector. Same time I picked up a fold-up engine hoist. These guys are real heavy. Assembly was easy, with the hoist & nylon straps to do the lifting.
The Planer works flawlessly after futzing with the roller table assembly/alignment. The largest I had to give it was 12" black walnut and it came out beautifully and without straining. Only Thing I don't like is that the dust collector (optional) port is like 5" so my hoses don't fit. And I think you really need dust collector with this thing, unless you don't mind being up to your knees in chips. Had to modify the dust collector (cut the crossbar out of inlet), either that or change it's name to insta-plug.
I was woried about the steel feed roller leaving marks but it doesn't unless you don't cut, then their minimal
Saw minimal snipe once but not since, go figure.

Delta Review very nice planer
I picked up this planer in August and have since used it several times preparing wood for many projects. As advertised, it is very heavy and takes a number of hours to set up. Once the machine is assembled and adjusted, it does a wonderful job planing woods. It must be used with a dust collection unit as you will soon be in a mountain of chips! The two speeds are nice - you can buzz through a pile of wood in short order and then finish the boards on the slower setting - although with sharp blades, it is difficult to improve on the finish at the faster setting. The maching and parts were nearly flawless - the only fault I have observed is that one of the screws that fastend the oil gear box leaks a small amount of oil.

My experience is that this is a very good quality machine.

Delta Review Should have gotten it sooner
My trust in the Delta name has not gone unrewarded. I bought this machine to be able to use timber thats just not available at the lumber yard. How did I ever get along without it. Assembly out of the box took about three hours to get everything set correctly. Instructions are clear and accurate. All the parts where included. This is a heavy monster so get a friend (four) to help get it out of the shipping wrap and in place. The blades where set accurately out of the box. The roller extensions tables never seemed to be perfectly level with the bed but this has not been a problem. The two speed auto feed works great. I have run everything from pine to green heart. Clean, smooth and no snipe. The motor never seems to have any trouble with the cuts but I do tend to be kind and keep my cuts lean. The only trouble was the power circuit for this tool. I ran a dedicated 240 volt circuit. The book said to use a 20 amp and there is a sticker on the stand that says 15 amp. I went with the 20 but the motor trips the breaker on the second or third start. This motor is a direct start ( no capacitors) so the power on startup is high. I had to go to a 30 amp breaker. If you have the space and the money get this machine, You will not be disappointed.

Delta Review Cracked table, wrong saw
First 36-507X I ordered and received has a hairline crack in the side of the table. Maybe the crack would propogate and get bigger, or maybe it would never be a problem, but I paid good money for this saw and was not going to find out either way. After some confusion with Delta/Amazon as to my replacement options, Amazon offered to send a replacement but they could not send just the saw, they had to send the entire package (fence, table extension, etc). I was instructed to replace just the saw part and return the whole lot of it back to them. A good plan (ignoring the gross inefficiency) except when I got the replacement saw, it was a model 36-678 with the extra boxes that made up the X package. Now I don't know enough about the Delta models to know all the differences, but I do know this is the NOT the same saw. It has a different label, different handles, switch, base, etc... Why is this so difficult? I have never had a problem ordering through Amazon, and I think in general they are an excellent company, but in this case I really really wish I had paid the extra couple hundred dollars and ordered through my local dealer instead - I may still do so.

Delta Review Good saw poor Delta support
I purchased the saw for home use to replace another brand that I contributed to a Habitat for Humanity garage sale. The saw is very good and the B meyer fence is excellent. After I added some side flashing and a catch box the saw dust is not a problem. My main problem was the support that I didn't receive from Delta. I was to receive a mobile base for the saw and extention table. After 4 months, twelve phone calls, and ten e-mails I still don't have all the parts. I can not get anyone a Delta to return a call and when I do contact them I am told tha tthey will make it right, but to date it ain't right. My suggestion to anyone who wants to take them up on any offer, take cash and buy the accessory yourself.

Delta Review Great saw - Timing is Everything!
I've been thinking about purchasing a delta table saw (among other tools) from you for a while. The table saw that I have been looking at is the Delta 36-507X with the Biesmier fence system.

Particularly for this saw, every time I look at it (basically on a weekly basis), the price is different. And there's no rhyme or reason to it. One week it's $869. The next it's $849. Now its $999. Sometimes there's shipping, sometimes there isn't. Sometimes the shipping is $45, this week its $199! Sometimes there's an Amazon discount, sometimes there isn't.

Why have you suddenly started jerking your customers around so much??? And why do you think that this behavior will keep customers coming back on a repeated basis?

You've turned buying consumer goods into something as erratic and stressful as venturing into the stock market. A total price on a table saw that in two months time has varied weekly and by as much as 40%? Give me a break.

I used to come to Amazon because I could get the convenience of a wide variety of items in one location at a competitive price. I'm realizing, and I hope you realize that the competitive price is really the more important factor -- and you are losing my confidence in that.

What is the real price? What is a fair price? Make me an offer and I may go for it. Else, I am just going somewhere else.

I'm pretty fed up. And I'm tired of being jerked around.

Thanks,

Mike

Delta Review Bad Customer Service
My saw did not come with the rip fence pictured in the catalog and described in the invoice. Trying to deal with Amazon on this via the web or via phone is impossible. What do I do now?

Delta Review My compromise saw...
I was intending to get a Delta Unisaw, and own the last saw I'd ever need, but my budget tightened at the last minute, and I elected to go with this one. I have to say, I was very happily surprised. The cast-iron top is the same size as the Unisaw, and will take the same accessories, including the option to upgrade to the 50" Beisemyer fence later on if I want to (though the T2 fence is very good, and was accurate right out of the box)

The pros:
-Cast iron trunnions (not quite as bulky as a cabinet saw, but not flimsy by any means)
-Easy adjustments for every part of the saw.
-Quiet, quiet operation (I wired mine for 240v, 120v may be a little noisier)
-Very nice fence- not the best, but I use a Unisaw with a Beisemeyer fence at work, and I really can't tell the difference.
-Heavy enough to feel solid, but light enough to move around
-Solid, accurate miter gauge
-Plenty of power for sawing 8/4 hard maple with a good Freud blade.
-Feels like a Unisaw, only about $700 less expensive

The cons:
-Belt should be disconnected when not in use to prevent jerky operation if you don't use it every day, but at least it's not too hard to do.
-Powder-coating on the stand was inconsistant, with a couple of large light spots that will need touch-up eventually.
-240v wiring diagram for the motor requires a bit of digging around to find and read (It's under the cap with the breaker in it, and you have to take the breaker completely out to read it)
-A short jump when the saw starts, but it runs smoothly after that.
-No place to store the miter guage or blade wrenches on the case
-Odd-sized nuts and hex keys are needed for assenbly and adjustment, but don't come with it. (make sure you have an 18mm open-ended wrench for the extension wings- all three of my sets jump from 17 to 19, and a 3mm hex key [Delta includes a number of hex keys that I didn't use for anything, but not the one I needed to adjust the height of the insert...?]
-Bolt kit for the fence was for a model with steel wings, not the cast iron ones that come with this saw, making the fence assembly a little different than it should be, it was also missing one bolt entirely.

Overall, it's a heck of a nice saw, and you really can't beat the price. I was seriously considering Grizzly, but after checking this one out in the store, it's hard to imagine a better product in this price range, and the money I saved on shipping made this a much more attractive proposition. I'd definately buy this one again- sure, it doesn't get you the bragging rights of a 5hp Unisaw, but do you really *need* that?

Delta Review Workhorse
I've used this saw daily for over 3 years and it has never let me down. Compared side-by-side with a Unisaw in my shop, I really have no preference between the saws other than better dust collection on Unisaw. Both perform flawlessly with easily repeatable, accurate cuts.

I have the 240V model with a 50" table extension, the Unifence, and a mobile base. Very workable and reasonably priced setup.

Please ignor people that critize saw for errors in shipping, faulty setup on their part, or issues with Delta that have nothing to do with saw in question.

Delta Review SCAMMED BY DELTA
BEFORE YOU BUY A DELTA SAW PLEASE READ MY REVIEW ABOUT THE DELTA 36-680.TRUST ME ITS WORTH IT AND MAY SAVE YOU FROM WHAT I HAVE TO DEAL WITH.IT TELLS WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT DELTA.ALSO I LOOKED AT THIS SAW AT STORE IN CT. AND THE HEAP I BOUGHT (36-680) LOOKED MUCH BETTER .THE WINGS LOOKED CHEESEY ON THE 36-444 ALSO AND IF I (HAD TO) PICK BETWEEN THE TWO I WOULD GET THE 36-680 $569.IF I KNEW WHAT I KNOW NOW I WOULDNT GET A DELTA AT ALL. THERE ARE PLENTY OF BETTER SAWS OUT THERE.WITH NO SCAMS OR LIES. (WARNING)BEWARE OF OLD SAWS WITH THE LABELS SWITCHED FOR NEW ONES. THIS IS A HONEST REVIEW.GOOD LUCK

Delta Review Great saw but mail order is risky.
If you plan to buy the saw from Amazon, the saw will be delivered by a trucking company because its too heavy for UPS. You'll either need to get help to unload the saw from the truck or open the box in the truck and unload part by part.

The rip fence and fence guide came slightly damaged and I suspect it was damaged even before it left the factory - the box showed no signs of damage but the items were dented. Because the damage wasnt great enough to be worth the hassle of trying to return a 5-foot long box and then have to wait an unknown time for a replacement, I decided to keep it damaged - it leaves a bad taste though. Delta or Amazon probably knew of the damage and was betting (correctly) that it wouldnt be returned

The saw functions beautifully - its sturdy and all the parts that relate to alignment can be adjusted. Couple of minor complains - I wish the blade tilt wheel would have a positive stop at its maximum tilt - as it is now, the wheel feels like its tightening rather than stopping. I also wish the power cable didnt lead out of the dusty inside of the saw - a hole through the side and a rubber grommet would solve that.

If I had to do this again, I would have bought this in a store instead of by mail order so that its easier to return damage parts.

Delta Review Great Table Saw
I bought this tool at Amazon.com. The extension wings are warped and I could not get the rip fence parallel to the miter slot, so I made my own extension wings and upgraded the fence to a Vega system. Other than that and a few blade adjustments, this system has worked very well for me.

Delta Review A real disappointment
If the magnetic base on this light were twice as strong, it would be worth owning and deserve a high rating. As it turns out, the magnetic base is far too weak for many of the applications that this light is intended for. Here are some things I tried with this light:

1. Standing upright on a cast iron table (such as a tablesaw) - This thing nearly jumped out of my hand to stick to my tablesaw.

2. Attaching to the side of my drill press - Basically the magnet would not hold the light in this position. Only if I flexed the neck so the lamp itself hung straight down would it even hold itself to the side of the drillpress - and then it was so wobbly that I was afraid to turn on the press for fear that the light would slide right off...

3. Hanging straight down from a metal plate on the ceiling - This light will support itself in this manner so long as nothing bumps it, in which case the magnet gives up and the whole thing falls down.

So, I have to say that either I got a bad magnet or this tool is not worth owning, or both. Since a clamp on light will do everything that this can do and more - I don't recommend that you buy one of these!

Delta Review Nice lamp, but requires appliance bulb.
I would prefer this lamp to allow the use of a standard size bulb, up to 100 watts.

Delta Review VERY PLEASED
THE LAMP IS PERFECT FOR A DRILL PRESS OR BAND SAW AND CAN EASILY BE MOVED BETWEEN MACHINES.

Delta Review Works great
I finally broke down and bought the dado insert. Packaging was a bit of overkill. It arrived in a box big enough for boots! I have used my dado blade set several times without the insert and finally ordered one. I had ordered another tool from Amazon and added this to the list. I actually got it for $4.00 because I order it when Amazon offered $25.00 off a purchase of $125.00. I would recommend adding this to your shopping list when Amazon is offering promotions. It works great and the leveling screws work flawlessly. I would like the insert to come with a mounting screw like the one on the regular insert that came with the saw. It fits perfect in the slot and has a nice weight to it. I have a Delta 36-675 with T2 fence.

Four stars because it costs too much and doesn't have a mounting screw. I am glad I didn't get hurt using my saw without one.

Delta Review Product size shown above is incorrect.
I wasn't sure I was ordering the right insert based on the product dimensions show above. But the insert is the correct size and the dimensions shown above are incorrect.

Actual size of this insert (Model 34-264) is 13.375" X 3.75"

Delta Review Great Dado blade
I have had a very good experience using this dado blade so far. I have only used it on poplar wood, but it has given good service. The steel shims are great, the cut is clean.

Delta Review Delta 36-431
Everything is great except for the extenstion table. The laminated table surface is not even close to flat and the dimensions in the assembly manual for the legs are incorrect. Aside from these gripes the saw is well made. All parts were included in the shipping boxes, the cast iron tops are flat as can be, and the assembly was very smooth. The splitter guard is a pain. Align the motor well before attaching it!

Delta Review delta 36-431 limited contractor saw
Al boxes were delivered in fine condition and all parts were there.(I always check before starting.) The setup was a bit slow and some of the instructions and or pictures were not as clear as they should be. Not having the holes drilled in the table extension is kind of a pain, since the measurements are taken off of parts that need to be matched with no easy way to hold them and measure. Table mostly flat and within acceptable tolerances. The guard/splitter is a difficult at best and not user friendly. I haven't yet tried to remove it for dado work, but am sure it will be time consuming. I might leave it off and purchased a better after-market type.

Nice cuts, the bessy is very accurate and the entire unit is rock solid.

Delta Review Great deal, once I got it
I wondered how that box was going to fit in my mail box, and as the time approached for the package to arrive, I'd check all doors to see if it got left. No luck. The first shipment got lost and Amazon responded well and re-shipped. No tracking available on these products. Shipper called in advance and boxes arrived as scheduled this time. I found the directions to be perfectly fine. Taking my time, I still spent no more than 8 hrs in the set-up. For a duffer like me, it was a treat learning as I go so that when, inevitably, things go out of line I'll be able to get it back in play. And, as you'll see with other reviews, there is a common issue with the laminated extension table, a slight negative dip. I wonder if the dip isn't by design, since tolerances bringing the middle of the table up over the cast iron deck would be impossible to deal with. Exact is great, but if there's error, let it be in the right direction. By the way, you'll need a bar clamp on hand to install the table. Made my first cuts last night. Dead on. I'll need to make more inventive excuses about my project flaws, now. As for guard/splitter, I'll learn to live with it. My earlier tablesaw (Sears ~1948) was beginning to terrorize even me.

Delta Review Delta 1 micron let down
Cheap Cheap Cheap... Sure they are 1-micron dust bags... My Grandmother could have done better at sewing a bag together... Ink marks and no double stitching on the loops... In fact it appears to have a loop missing.... Again how can Delta hold there heads up with charging so much for a crappy crafted piece of material.... The original bag was made better by the Asians so why can the US made products at least muster up to their quality?? Not even a Delta Logo on the bag... a waste of money in my opnion.... your better off just throwing a sheet over your dust collector with the original bag on it.... probable just as effective or perhaps better....

Delta Review buy em...worth it
I bought this to go with the Delta 50-850. It fits fine. Two come with the order so it's not as pricey as you'd think.

From all I've read, you want to get these. If you've gone this far to buy a dust collector, don't skim on the last part that will stop tiny dust from blasting back into your workshop.

Delta Review Cleaner air! Increased airflow! Works great[.]
I just installed my 1-micron bags. What a difference! It's true, the 1-micron bags do not inflate up hard like the original bags that came with the dust collector. Since the 1-micron bags allow so much more air to pass through more easily, do not expect them to be inflated hard and stiff. The 1-micron bags have less resistance to air flow. To test, I held the original bags and the 1-micron bags over my mouth to see how breathable they were. The 1-micon bags were very easy to breath through and the original bags were very restrictive. I purchased the 1-micron bags for two reasons, (1) I breath anything that the bags do not collect and (2) I started noticing a very light dust covering over items in my storage room where I also keep the dust collector after about 2 weeks of use (I just installed my dust collection system.) I can only imagine what it would look like after 2 years with the original bags. Keeping things clean is the original reason I bought the dust collection system in the first place. My only negative is I think these bags are a bit pricey but I still worth a 5-Star rating.

Delta Review Amazon Shipping
Because I ordered this item thru Amazon, I have not received it, nor am I optimistic about getting it any time soon. I'm concerned that it will not be delivered in nice shape, i.e. damaged. As were my previous deliveries, read on-

I ordered $1,000.00 in high end tools, including a tablesaw fence that arrived in TERRIBLE condition, i.e ripped entirely open with scattered and broken parts. The exposed pieces, now in two half boxes was set on my porch in the rainy weather.

It is convienient that Amazon lists no phone numbers on thier Web sites, making them unavailable for service.

I have wanted this product for some time now, and now that I am able to get it, I realize that I should have ordered it factory direct. At least they would be available and accountable to the promptness and condition of delivery.

I'm sure I will like my new Nucraft Router Table. I just hope Amazon doesn't ruin the anticipation and quality of this product.

Delta Review I LOVE this Shower Massage
A couple of months ago I replace an old pulsating shower head on a hose because it wasn't working well anymore. I paid a lot of money for the new one and hated it immediately. It leaked and hung loosely in the ball joint so the spray couldn't be directed when the handle was in the mount.

My partner said "wasn't the original called a Shower Massage?" And I said "yeah, Waterpik." So off to the web site I went to do a little research. I picked the Linnea 10 setting Shower Massage because it fit my budget and had the features I wanted.

I couldn't be happier. The real excitement was a setting that feels like a soft rainstorm. I can't even describe it. The only thing I would like it to have is a cutoff setting so you can intermittently shut off the spray without turning off the water. If it had that I would have given it 5 stars.

Delta Review No problems here
I was perfectly happy with this showerhead... I read a few negative reviews, but decided to trust the positives... I am perfectly happy with this item.

Delta Review I came back to WaterPik
I had owned a WaterPik showerhead in my previous house. When I moved into this house 15 months ago I purchased a different brand to save a few dollars.I finally went back to WaterPik and I can comfortably say it is definitely worth the few extra dollars.
