I bought this base and never installed it. The idea of clamping a power feeder to a machine table never seemed safe to me and also you are limited to a corner mount. Instead get an extra base from Delta, part number 1347994 will get another base for $34.47. Then you just unscrew the power feeder from one base and screw it to down on another base.

My joiner is an old 4 1/8 inch Craftsman. It runs pretty good but the knives are not easy to set. This jig seemed to be just the thing but there are two short comings I found:

1. When the jig is lined up with the knife at top dead center, the screws holding the knife in place are not accessible. So the jig has to be moved forward enough to get the knives to rotate just a bit. By this time, the knives are to high. With this set up, no amount of tweeking got both knives parallel and at the same height.

The way I tested whether the knives were parallel was to join a piece of scrape (3/4 x 3 1/2). This joined edge (3/4) was placed on the cast iron saw table and a square was used to see if the 3 1/2 side was 90 degrees to the table. I never had a test run where this was the case.

Another way I came up with was a ruler. The ruler was placed on the infeed side with the "6" on the very edge, side closest to the fence. Then the cutter was rotated until the steel blade hit the ruler. The contact point on the ruler was noted. In my case, this was about 7 1/16 on the ruler. Then the ruler was moved to the other end of the knive and the process was repeated. Most of the time I could not detect a difference so maybe my machine is the real problem.

2. The magnets were not strong enough to pull up the knives every time. Sure, the jig would stick to the cast iron table but the knives would often stay put. I used a spare rare earth magnet to pull the knives up to the jig magnets. Once in place, the knives would stay put most of the time. I ended up making another little tool with the magnet screwed to a scrap piece of wood. This was used to pull the knives up to the jig magnet.

So, I'll keep the tool as it came by way of UPS and sending it back would not be free. But I would be very careful about recommending the jig.

I ordered the Delta 37-365X Jointer and a set of knives for back up. When the knives arived, they were not in a Delta box and Delta's name/part number was not printed on the knives. I call Amazon and requested a second set, no-luck, same set was sent again. I returned the knives, and ordered a set from Delta direct. I feel, to keep equpment running safe and trouble free, buy orgenal parts only, not copies.

When I recieved the switch I was excited because I'd used a similar product and loved it. What the sales literature doesn't tell you is that this is a push on/push off switch, not a momentary switch. I was planning on using it to run my drill press and was most interested in it because I thought that it could switch off more quickly than the two push buttons on the drill press itself. No matter how careful you are drill presses occasionly grab the work piece and fling it and I wanted a way to get away from the press and switch it off as quickly as possible. I was expecting the foot switch to work like a deadman switch where the instant I took pressure off the foot controlling it the circuit would be broken and the drill press would stop. Instead, this switch, once acitivated by momentary foot pressure, stays on by itself until you hit the foot pedal again. This requires a much more concious and deliberate action to turn it off rather than a reflexive one.

I went against my own rule and bought the economy version of a tool. I thought "what could be wrong with a live center?". Plenty. Initially, the bearing didn't turn at all. I ended up spraying some lube in the bearing (which isn't good for the bearing but it was the only way I could get it to turn). Now I just noticed that the point is GONE. The point/bearing housing is made out of some cheap cast pot metal and it obviously overheated when the bearing wasn't turning and just disappeared. So now it's virtually useless. Go for the more expensive live center.

The concept of a charcoal filter clearing the air while using solvents sounds nice, but in practice it is ineffective and expensive. I used mine while working with contact cement and now the thing smells like contact cement. I suspect it is saturated, and without any way to purge it, is no longer any good. Additionally, while working I was much closer to the contact cement than was the filter, so whatever got to the filter had to pass by me first. Well, I also wore a charcoal filter mask and I think that is the way to go. You only filter what you breath and the filter is between the solvent and you--a much cheaper and effective solution. I would put my money there not in this device.

The filter didn't match the old filter for the 50-868 air cleaner that I have. Even Delta tools don't have the same filter that I have been using for the past year. The quality of the filter is not as good. The old filters, filtered smaller particles than the new.

I ordered this item well over a month ago and Amazon has still not committed to a ship date. Do not trust Amazon to ship this in a timely manner. They have provided no explaination, but they have consistantly missed their shipping targets.

I bought one of these to replace a Delta 6in grinder that was stolen a little over a year ago. The 8in grinder seemed like a deal. I do a lot of plane and chisel sharpening and wanted something that would dish out the cutting edge a little less. This it does. However it absolutely stinks otherwise. I bolted it to my bench and it vibrated so badly anything that is on the bench walks itself off no matter how heavy. Not only are the stones not round, but are out of true by at least 1/16 inch! Delta sent me new stones...same problem. I bought new stones...same problem...but less. It turns out that both the stones and the shaft wobble! Delta would not warranty the grinder unless I sent it to them and pay the shipping both ways! This was as much as the cost of the grinder..Not only that, but the clear spark gaurds had huge stickers on them, that when peeled off, left all their adhesive on the gaurd so you couldn't see through them. Water would not remove the adhesive and anything that could, dissolved the plastic as well. Delta sent me new ones...for a different grinder! Delta is off my list for tools as long as they keep having things made in China. I cant image what their other stuff made in China must be like and I'm not willing to take the chance.

probably a good grinder, if the motor wasn't burned out from the factory. Apparently, factory reconditioned means no one bothers to turn it on to see if
it works.

Now I have to wait for a new motor (not a whole replacement), which I have to install. Should have just bought a new one and saved the hassle.
