JET Review I am going to throw it out and buy a mop!
I've had my Swiffer Wet Jet for over a year, and I have never been impressed with it. I have to use so much cleaning solution, and you have to keep buying the cleaning pads (which don't last long, and don't really pick up anything!) All the Wet Jet does is just push around the dust and hair on my floor. If there is any actual spot that is hard to get off, you are supposed to be able to use this rough part of the Swiffer to scrape it off. However, it is just like the rough part of velcro and doesn't work very well. I end up having to grunt and break out a sweat pushing the Wet Jet back and forth over the spot. Don't buy this, it is too expensive and doesn't work well enough!

JET Review It works well on a vinyl floor...with a few additions
The PowerMop replaces a sponge mop, not a regular mop, in terms of what it can do. If you currently use a sponge mop, you will love this, as it solves the sponge mop problem (the dirty sponge that is hard to clean and expensive to replace). If you use a regular mop, this will be a disappointment. It is, however, much lighter and less effortful than a regular mop. If you have a few additional tools, and a fairly small surface area to clean (as in an apartment), you may want to consider it.

Those with more than 200 sq. ft. of flooring to clean probably need to stick with more conventional means.

In a nutshell, the Pros:
-great for light cleaning of small spaces
-fits well with a cleaning routine based on a Roomba
-fits around toilets and costs less than Scooba, even with the supplies
-great replacement for a sponge mop
-carry a bottle of 409 with you, and many of the stained spots will come clean

The Cons:
-easy jobs are easy with the power mop, but difficult jobs are still difficult (it does not solve all problems)
-need to go over the floor (quickly) multiple times for effective cleaning
-disposable parts are expensive
-cleaning solution is not the best possible
-unlike their competitor, they don't allow you to refill the solution bottle with whatever you like
-will require multiple pads for large floors, making it significantly more expensive for a house than an apartment

The floor does need to be swept or, better, vacuumed before it is mopped. We have a Roomba, and so I find it convenient to send the Roomba around the kitchen first (while I'm doing something else), and then come back to mop afterwards. Those of you already in the habit of vacuuming your hard floors before you mop will have to do the same step.

The power mop works best for me in multiple quick steps, rather than going over each piece of floor until it is completely clean. Quickly run the mop while squirting over the whole floor, then come back around again. The extra time allows the dirt to loosen up, so it's more efficient than going over each spot multiple times before moving on. This is very different than how most people mop, so it requires a change in habits.

There is no heaviness, no bending, no dirty water, no smearing dirt around, and each step is very, very fast.

JET Review Granted, It's Not As Good As Sex, But...
My first Swiffer Wet Jet finally broke down after three years of use, not bad for a product that you can buy here for $18.99, and usually find even cheaper in stores.

Since I live in Guatemala, I had to wait months for a new one to arrive. Now, I am the furthest thing from a "neat freak," (as mom would readily attest) but I certainly did miss it.

Although, only when I walked...

Even though I had to pay an extra $26 for shipping and customs, it was still an incredible bargain.

Not only are my floors finally clean again, but I don't procrastinate doing them like I did when I only had a useless old mop.

While waiting for the Wet Jet to arrive, once I did try smearing filthy putrid water from a mop bucket, and I swore never again. I just let my floors get dirty until the Wet Jet finally came.

The criticisms I have read here are ridiculous. People actually complained because they have to sweep the floor before they mop?

How lazy can one be?

I would hate to see the filth on their floors if they never even sweep before they mop!

Yes, the cleaner does spray out a few inches in front of the mophead. I couldn't imagine wanting it any other way. If you are trying to hit a particular spot, just step back a few inches, dude.

Duh...

It is best to first sweep with a broom, then go over the floor with the Swiffer sweeper which statically attracts hairs and fine particles that the regular broom misses, and then finish with the Wet Jet. Three passes, but mopping with the Wet Jet is just as easy as sweeping - no bending, no wringing, no mess.

Just put it to the barefoot test and you'll be amazed. Walk around before and after it dries, and you will cannot help but see and feel the difference on the soles of your feet.

I also have some allergies, but the cleaner doesn't bother me at all.

The only negative is that you can go through the floor cleaner quickly, and it is not cheap. However, the pads are hardly a significant expense.

Thank god I got my Wet Jet back!

JET Review Incomplete, poor quality, flimsy
I wish I had read the reviews on Amazon before purchasing this item. One of the holes for the brake lock screws was not completely tapped. The hardware for the extension wing was not included. The unit flexes when moved.

I tapped the hole myself, bought some nuts and bolts, and made it work. However, I wish I had purchased the Shop Fox portable base instead. I saw one under the same table saw a few days ago at a Woodcraft store and it appeared to be of much higher quality.

JET Review This one is a loser.
I read all the reviews at Amazon.com on this item and still did not believe that the HTC mobile base could be as bad as some folks say it is. After receiving it, I can say that the reviews were right. Without leveling bolts, the base is useless and the wheel lock-downs are made of cheep materials. The base can be unstable on uneven floors. I stood on the center rail that holds the extended table and my 155 Lb weigth caused the base to sag. This was before the saw was placed on it. HTC said I have 30 days to return it with no questions asked. I would except that I invested [money] and two days to beef it up and put levelers on the thing...

JET Review Woodworker
I purchased a JPM 13 and when I tried to get parts for it they told us that we could buy the planer but they did not carry parts for it. I hope you post this because I am disappointed that you cant buy parts for it even though you still sell it. James

JET Review ACE
I haven't used mine to cut molding yet, but the machine is under powered for rough cut lumber. If you just have a board or two to thickness plane it is functional, but for big jobs forget it.

JET Review Good tool, excellent results
My JPM-13 is about a year old, and is being used to restore an old house. I use 5/4 and 8/4 fir and 5/4 maple exclusively. I make the door/window trim (1 1/8 thick x 5 in wide) and have custom knives made. This is not a professional machine, but gives GREAT results on the maple molding, with no sanding needed! I would recommend it to anyone that would use it as a hobby machine.

JET Review powerwasher 816045sh universal
the item was a waste of money it will not work the scrubber will not turn to scrub at all

JET Review Powerwasher #816045SH
I purchased this surface scrubber kit. First of all it says universal, however none of the attachments it came with fit my Generac Pressure Washer 1900PSI. I happened to have the right one lying around because I purchased a Briggs & Stratton universal multi-purpose rotating brush kit awhile ago. The first day I used this scrubber I thought it was a great! Cleaned my driveway with ease. Next day I processed to clean my sidewalk, just before I was almost done one of the blue nozzles on the wand bar popped off. I've tried everything to put it back on, however it just keeps popping off. Second day of owning it and it breaks! The whole thing is made of flimsy plastic. I wouldn't recommend anyone waisting your time one this product. I personally think the Powerwasher? #81K075SH Universal Pressure Washer H-2-0 PowerwashBroom is a much better choice no moving parts to break, and its cheaper. The broom works great has three nozzles instead of two. Don't make the same mistake a did, buy the PowerwashBroom

JET Review nice accessory
i have used this to clean my garage floor and think it works great. it retains the chemical cleaner i use nicely instead of spraying them all over. also, it prevents splashing all over my wood, which is appreciated as i would rather not paint over water spots this fall. ***a little help for the guy below with the 1900psi machine, you might want to read the product description before you buy, this is for electric units- it is not designed to work with your machine, probably why it didn't!

JET Review Poor quality insert.
I have two problems with this insert and I consider them very important. First, the insert was not flat. I had to run it through my jointer several times to flatten it. So don't buy this insert unless you have access to a jointer.

But, the major problem was the adjusting set screws were too short to bring the insert to the top surface of my jet saw. I ended up inserting normal pan headed screws from the bottom. This gave me enough adjustment room to get the insert level.

So again, don't buy this insert unless you have access to an assortment of screws.

JET Review Takes a little time
This table saw insert took a little time to fit. First, the tabs need to be filed down to get the proper fit. To cut the blade opening, it takes a two step process involving a 7" blade and a 10" blade for the final cut. The adjusting screws were very tight, but manageable. I also had to sand down some excess pvc on top of the insert around the screw holes to flatten them out. Once I finished the insertion process, I have been very pleased with the results.

JET Review wasted my money
I bought these plastic blastgates because they were cheaper than aluminum. What a waste of money! I broke two of them while installing, the slots jam up with chips, and they cannot be taken apart for cleaning. As my funds allow, I will be replacing the plastic with aluminum.

JET Review Four stars for performance - Three stars for the price!
I picked these up at a local Menard's store for about half of the nearly $8 being charged here. I installed four of these in my small garage shop duct system, and so far I am well pleased with their performance. In fairness to the other reviewers, I don't put a lot of fine dust through my system though. The tools I have hooked up through these gates include a planer, radial arm saw, miter saw, table saw, jointer, and band saw. Aside from the table saw and bandsaw, these tools don't produce loads of very fine dust, so my gates have never clogged. By leaving the dust collector running for 10 seconds or so after the tool is turned off I have never had problems closing these gates. I cannot say if they will "wear out" over time since I have had them less than a year, but I don't expect them to.

In short I am happy with everything about these plastic gates except for the price!

JET Review What's all the whining about?
I've used these blastgates for about a year in my home basement workshop and have never had a problem. I'll admit I don't use the shop every day, but for the casual user, these gates work great! I have about 4 of these in use. Most of the gates are connected on a hose or pipe in a vertical position (where the gate control is horizontal). This might help the problem that others on this forum seem to be complaining about (with dust collecting in the gate slot). As far as the taper goes, I'll agree the design doesn't need to be tapered. However, using the wire hose clamps tightened securely, I've never had one come off when I didn't want it to.

JET Review No stops
This is a sturdy little unit but it does not have stops for 90 degrees, 45 degrees, etc.

Taking into account the other review, I would not recommend this unit to a friend asking advice.

JET Review Where's the handle?
Potential users: Click on the "See Larger Picture" link. Notice that (threaded) hole on the flat part at the top? That's where the handle should be, the handle that gives you oomph to push and guide your stock with the miter gauge. Makes the cutting LOTS easier and more accurate with larger pieces!
Jeez, including this handle with the gauge couldn't have cost 'em more than a couple bucks--but they don't. Nor do they give you any way that I could find to locate and order one.

JET Review
Jet JW1024 6" Hose Clamp
Made by Jet
  • Steel band hose clamp
Amazon base price: $1.49
List price: $ (that's NaN% off!)
Average review score: JET Review

JET Review Not the Preferred Choice
The steel band clamp should only be used in one type of application. That being where you are putting two SMOOTH surfaces together, like a garden hose or radiator hose. But with a DC application of a ribbed hose, the steel band clamp is NOT the preferred choice, use the wire clamp.

The steel band clamp will only strip and never be fully seated trying to compress and secure the wire rib to the smooth DC fitting. The steel banding and worm screw is not designed to do that task and provide the needed pressure to fully seat the ribbed hose. Whereas, the wire clamp will actually strattle the rib on both sides and create a perfect clamping fit.

JET Review Slippin and a' Slidding
I used both types of band clamps- steel band clamps and wire band clamps- with the ribbed hose in my dust collection system. The steel band clamps slipped more, were harder to control going on and didn't seat as well as the the wire band clamps
