Wagner Review WallMagic
I have done several rooms in my home and friends homes with this kit. We all are very pleased with the results! It looks better then wallpaper! No two rooms are the same. You can experiment with different colors and get a unique result every time! I recommend this product for anyone who wants a change in that plain old one color paint job! Its fun to do, and people have to touch the wall to see if it really is paint!!!

Wagner Review New to me
I have just purchased the kit... I haven't used it yet, but last year had some painters do a job for me, and they used it. The results were fantastic, and appeared to be easy enough to use. So I'm going to give it a shot. My 5 star rating is solely based on the results someone else obtained

Wagner Review What a bargain
Found a pan and roller with this odd looking split pan and roller at a thrift store. Always curious, but having no book or directions I lucked out after a short experiment, It was apparent what it could do. I'm no painter and if it is that easy for me without instructions, it must be a breeze with the help of a video. I would highly recommend this product, even to the most rank amature. It's that easy.

Wagner Review the millwaukee 775 heat gun
Used this heat gun on 35yr. old window glaze. The heat generated by the gun made this job very easy to remove the glaze. I would recommend this product.

Wagner Review Great PVC heater/bender
I bought this heat gun to heat PVC in order to bend it. I was using a butane torch and this works much better. It generates more than adequate heat, but without the problems of burning the PVC. It is light and easy to handle. I also really like the stand that is attached, allowing hands free bench work. The cool down feature works well, reducing the (in my case anyway) potential burns. I would definitly recommend it, at least for bending PVC.

Wagner Review great moisture meter.
I have used two different meters. Both with pins. The Wagner is far easier to use. I can check several pieces of like wood in seconds. Has a far better cart to converts measurements. And one so you can look up woods that are not in the charts. Comes with a nice case too.

Wagner Review You get what you pay for.
I purchased the Wagner HVLP conversion gun after reading several positive reviews from this site as well as others. In fact, most appear correct. The gun does produce a decent spray pattern and can produce a good finish. Cleaning the gun is also rather easy. Why the low score? Like so many low-priced products coming from overseas targeting the price-obsessed consumer, it suffers from excessive cost cutting.
An always telling clue is the survivability of the product. After a two foot drop onto the carpet, the gun leaked air. Ok. So, try to tighten the connection. Oops. The handle snapped off like I had been holding a twig. Why did it snap? The plastic handle revealed an extremely thin tube inside. Am I surprised it snapped with such a mild force? No. Am I surprised they decided to cut such corners? Yes. The rest of the product is reasonably well made (though heavy and a little large). Why cut use such a thin tube when the rest of the product appears to be one step up. What's the cost? One dollar? If it couldn't withstand a weekend woodworker, then I don't think it could stand up to any usage. I decided to go with the Apollo 5110 and I'm happy with it's build quality and results. It's more expensive, but the gun will outlast me and can be converted for turbine use later.

Wagner Review Great Tool
If you have a compressor and a big paint job to tackle, this is the tool for you. It's well-made and thoughtfully designed. I've never used a spray gun before, but this one seems pretty great. One flaw is that the manual doesn't give you any suggestions for the correct pressure settings. I found that using it with very low pressure--around 7 to 9 psi--worked the best to minimize overspray. Oh, and get a lot of scrap cardboard that you can use to manage the overspray that you do have. The cardboard gets gunky pretty fast.

Wagner Review Had one for many years, no issues
Excellent gun for the $. I have sprayed all types of paint, poly to latex and am pleased. Durability problems might have been due to a defective product. I have had my gun drop and no problems?

Wagner Review Very good performance, a few issues...
I bought this sprayer back in August and must say in general I really like it. It does a great job delivering the paint evenly, and the spray gun is pro-level.

Cons: The 25' hose broke the second time I used it. It started to leak right at the swivel, and I had paint oozing out before I shut it off. I had to go to Lowe's and buy a 50' hose which cost me another $50, but this hose has lasted through several uses.

Also, the output gasket has to be replaced frequently. This gasket broke on my third use. I called Wagner and they told me the output gasket must be replaced every 15 to 20 gallons of paint. I told them I had run less than 5 gallons of paint through it, and they agree to send me a new one for free.
Also, although they claim this is for the "heaviest" applications, I just used it to spray Glidden's Gripper (primer)which you need a .015 tip. I bought the tip, and the second gasket blew after only about 5 gallons. I guess this is a little too thick for this machine, but they say it's ok in their literature.

In a nutshell, this machine delivers excellent performance, but if you're painting the entire exterior of your house like me, expect it to need maintenance.

Wagner Review Stellar performer
I would highly recommend the purchase and use of this sprayer. The spray was very professional like and you can knock out a wall in what seems like only a few minutes. I laid it down a little too light and realized after about 4 walls that I could have just sprayed it on pretty heavy if I wanted to. The sprayer is a professional type sprayer, dealing with the hose is a hassle but as fast as this sprayer lets you do the job you can deal with the hose. It could use a swivel. This sprayer will spray latex paint right out of the can, I didn't filter it out because I was just too anxious to get to work with it and finish the job. Clean up requires time and patience, and reading the instructions is a must. Also putting this guy away for the night because you can't spray until you've masked everything, requires that you read the instuctions carefully and follow it to the tee. If you tape and mask everything before you spray you can finish the spray painting part of it in a day. Pressure washing can take a week, and masking can take a whole day plus. But spraying is a breeze with this guy. One last thing, the hopper will empty out pretty quick, you'll need more paint than what is normally recommended. about 25% more. As a result, the cost of the paint, masking and paint accessories, renting pressure washing, purchasing this paint sprayer and renting a scaffold saved us thousands over the professional painters quote. It took a lot of time because this is not our livelihood, but in the end very satisfied with the results.

Wagner Review Incredible sprayer for the $
I've rented airless sprayers before from the "orange" store. This sprayer works better than anything I've rented before. I got the pump out of the box, assembled it with 2 screws and glanced over the instructions. I sprayed 1 1/2 gallons of satin white latex on some waincot I installed the previous weekend. The machine performed flawlessly. This thing sprays really, really nice. Clean-up was typical of an airless. 1/2hr. and I was ready to put it away. Only drawback was the hose. It needs a swivel in the worst way. Other than that, the machine really impressed me (and I'm not easily impressed). Glad I purchased and highly recommend.

Wagner Review Excellet results from the paint crew
I purchased the Paint Crew to help me with an exterior paint job on my home. My home has a stucco exterior. A roller would well on stucco but the sprayer was excellent. I used a good quality exterior latex paint. With the Paint Crew the coverage on my home is so nice, even and the tool makes the job go very quickly. Most importantly, this thing makes painting fun! Note that the Paint Crew is not for a quick touch up. You better be ready to do some serious painting when you break out the Paint Crew.

The reasons I give it 4 stars are:
- I had some problems with overspray but it was likely my fault. The overspray spreads out much farther than you would think.
- They need a way to paint straight from a container. I was using 5 gallon buckets and did not like filling the hopper over and over.
- Cleanup could be better. It takes a long time and a lot of water.

Would I buy again? Without a doubt. Great product for the money.

Wagner Review I was amazed with this tool!
First let me tell you I used to work in a auto body shop. So I am familiar with siphon feed spray equipment. I found it hard to believe that any type of spray equipment could spray heavy latex paint. The Paint Crew sprayed ten gallons of paint in about 2 hours. I painted the inside of patio roof, shed, aluminum siding, down spouts. All painted with amazing results! The siding looks new again with a factory finish.
I felt like Tom Sawyer. I couldn't get the paint gun out of my brothers hand. We worked as a team, loading the sprayer, looking for missed spots and shielding areas with cardboard . Would I recommend this tool, YES!

Wagner Review Performed much better than expected
I bought this expecting it to save time overall, yet still expecting some problems. I found that this sprayer worked so well, I have very little to complain about.

I painted a 1200 square foot house exterior in 8 hours, including masking. I spent more time moving the ladder than actually spraying paint. The coverage was great, and I sprayed all day without the nozzle getting clogged or having to mess with the equipment in any way.

Cleanup took about 1/2 hour. The hopper is made of a type of plastic that repels paint, so it poured out quite easily. The rest that remained, I swiped out with a paintbrush back into the can. Very little paint was wasted. Cleanup was relatively neat and paint & dirty water were easily contained in a 5 gallon bucket.

The few things that I wish were better, but aren't extremely problematic: The instructions seem overwhelming at first. They aren't as difficult as they seem, but they could be written in a way to make getting started less daunting. When the hose is full, it is not very flexible - that makes aiming the trigger while hanging on a ladder a little cumbersome. The hopper needs to have enough paint in it to pressurize - at least a gallon.

This sprayer was a huge time saver - and I used less paint than I would have by brushing or rollering.

Wagner Review Pistons wear out too fast
I recently purchased the 2400 PSI power painter from Wagner (not available on amazon.com as of this writing, and I have already had to replace the piston twice on a single project (painting my picket fence...I've used a total of about 4 gallons of paint, so far). I wouldn't recommend buying a power painter, unless you are willing to shell out about $20-$40 for replacement parts for every job you intend to do with it

Wagner Review I'm satisfied
I recently purchased Wagner's 2000 PSI Wide Shot for a repainting project. The project is a large home built in the 20's. It took 15 gallons of base color paint, and 4 gallons of trim color. The Wagner has held up like a champ and made short work of the project compared to brushes and rollers.

I read a previous review talking about worn parts on the sprayer. If you will adjust the paint viscosity to match the gauge included with the painter, you should have no problems. This was as simple as purchasing a can of "additive" for my paint, and stirring it in until it was the right thickness.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the painter, its ease of use, and its overall durability. This project was all detail work that couldn't be rolled and would have needed tedious brush painting. Thank you Wagner!

Wagner Review Good quality product
My original piston was broken during cleaning so I went to all local hardware and paint stores where Wagner product are sold. To my surprise no one carries the piston repair kit including Home Depot and Lowes. I ordered it from Amazon and it was the original Wagner kit. Installation was simple and now my sprayer works much better with the new spray tips that came with the kit.

Wagner Review Perfect Finish
I purchased the 2900 after reading reviews of different HVLP sprayers on the web. The 2900's younger brother the Wagner 2600 was rated the top "affordable" HVLP sprayer by Fine Woodworking magazine and other reviews were favorable for both the 2600 and 2900 so I decided on the 2900. I am giving this unit 5 stars based on the following criteria:

Fit & feel - The NBC gun is very light and comfortable in my hand. The hose is nice and flexible so I didn't have to fight it while working on my project. Also, the 25 foot hose gave me plenty of room to work. The gun isn't tiny, but I was able to easily spray the inside of a cabinet without banging into the sides.

Gun - You can set the NBC gun to spray in either a horizontal line, vertical line, or a circle. Also, you can change the size of the spray to spray from a 1/2 inch all the way to twelve inches. This is all done by easily adjusting the tip. I found myself continuously adjusting my spray pattern for the specific area of the project I was spraying. Also, as other reviews have mentioned, this is a non-bleeding gun. So air does not continuously spray out of the gun unless the trigger is pulled. I did not have any luck finding other non-bleeding HVLP guns in this price range.

Finish - So far I have only used this unit with Sherwin-Williams oil based paint. This is some thick stuff. I found that I needed to thin the paint a little to get the spray to really spread nicely. But once I got it right, the finish was smooth as glass. I couldn't believe how nice it looked. An even better suprise was that I only used half of a quart after giving my console table two coats of paint. Because there isn't a lot of overspray, you use far less paint than with other types of sprayers.

Price - When looking at my options, it came down to the Wagner 2900 at $579 or the Capspray CS9100 at $999. Both units are built by Wagner and both have four turbines. It turns out that the only difference between the two units is that the 2600 comes with the NBC gun and the CS9100 comes with the Maxum II gun. Otherwise the internal components are the same. The Maxum II gun has some small advantages over the NBC gun, but not worth the extra $420. There are some descent comparisons of the two guns at www.GleemPaint.com.

Overall - This is a great buy. Remember that you may need to make some adjustments with some of the thicker coatings, but it is worth it when you can spray a project with virtually no overspray and end up with a smooth as glass finish. Cleanup is a breeze since you only need to clean the gun (the hose contains nothing but air). Happy Spraying!

Wagner Review best made
Like laying a sheet of finish on your project due to almost no overspray. infinately adjustable spray patterns. bought it because it was rated best hvlp sprayer in Fine Woodworking magazine -- and it delivered.

Wagner Review Waited a month for it to ship ?gave up"
I waited and waited and waited but cancelled after a month and ordered from Woodworkers Supply they matched the price and shipped the same day.

Wagner Review Wish I would have had one a year eariler
As a woodworker, I've been running blind, trusting my lumber providers to give me accurate moisture content numbers. This ended last month when I installed $2500 worth of IPE flooring. The IPE had been stored in the room that it was to be eventually installed in for two months, rotated frequently to insure even dryness and installed with a vapor barrier over a basement. It shrunk! In some places over 1/8"!
I bought the moisture meter from Amazon and tested the installed wood, 9 to 12%. I returned to my lumber dealer and tested his pile, 12 to 14%! He won't give me money back, but at least now I'm armed with accurate information.
I've tested red oak also, 6 to 7%.
This meter won't go above .70 in specific gravity, so with IPE, for instance, set it to .50 and divide the result by 2 since IPE is incredibly dense at 1.0. It responds quickly and I feel that it will eventually make me a better judge of wood.
I've still haven't gotten used to switching it to it's various modes and the single button is a bit touchy.

Wagner Review Great Unit, This is the one to have
This Wagner MMC205 is the one to have. No hassle when you have to ask the seller if they mind having pin holes in their wood. (Taking measurements at the end of the wood helps to avoid that, but still a minor consideration) It actually measures moisture content 3/4" of an inch into the wood. So surface moisture, which can vary based on humidity in the air, or a recent rain, etc, does not become a factor. It does so without any tampering with the wood. (No holes) Pin models, only go so deep, unless you really gouge the wood.
Another consideration, is that the more expensive Wagner meter measures wood above 20% moisture content. Considering that usable wood starts at 12%, and if you want to make furniture you will need wood around 4 to 6%, the need to know measurements up to 35% is not all that neccessary.
Their isn't any calculations neccessary with this meter as well. They do give you a handly little booklet, with all of the wood types listed. That way you can set it for the specific wood type to get a very exacting measurement.
It comes in a handy carrying case. Large easy to read numbers. Takes a few uses to get the hang of it. Like holding the setting down, in order for it to go into the changing mode.
When buying wood, the amount of time is has aged-cured, or been properly kiln dried is of the essence. If you buy wood that has too much moisture content in it, you will be forced to either age it yourself, or suffer the movement as it cures over time.
It is interesting to actually take this meter into some of the larger retail Home stores and measure what appears to be kiln dried, planed wood. Sometimes those pallets are left out in the rain for awhile. Since they are strapped together, a good soaking has the oppotunity to go deep within the grain. The individual boards in that case are not exposed to the air again, until they are unwrapped.
In conclusion, moisture measurements are essential in woodworking. This unit is at a good price point, if you want to do the best job, without breaking the bank. If I had to do it all over again, I would still buy this one. Highly recommended.
