You get what you pay for.An always telling clue is the survivability of the product. After a two foot drop onto the carpet, the gun leaked air. Ok. So, try to tighten the connection. Oops. The handle snapped off like I had been holding a twig. Why did it snap? The plastic handle revealed an extremely thin tube inside. Am I surprised it snapped with such a mild force? No. Am I surprised they decided to cut such corners? Yes. The rest of the product is reasonably well made (though heavy and a little large). Why cut use such a thin tube when the rest of the product appears to be one step up. What's the cost? One dollar? If it couldn't withstand a weekend woodworker, then I don't think it could stand up to any usage. I decided to go with the Apollo 5110 and I'm happy with it's build quality and results. It's more expensive, but the gun will outlast me and can be converted for turbine use later.
Great Tool
Had one for many years, no issues
- Professional-grade metal spray gun with full-size in-line filter
- Two-gallon capacity hopper increases spray time and convenience
- 25-foot high pressure hose for extended reach
- Convenient carrying handle and lightweight design
- Centrally-located controls simplify operation

Very good performance, a few issues...Cons: The 25' hose broke the second time I used it. It started to leak right at the swivel, and I had paint oozing out before I shut it off. I had to go to Lowe's and buy a 50' hose which cost me another $50, but this hose has lasted through several uses.
Also, the output gasket has to be replaced frequently. This gasket broke on my third use. I called Wagner and they told me the output gasket must be replaced every 15 to 20 gallons of paint. I told them I had run less than 5 gallons of paint through it, and they agree to send me a new one for free.
Also, although they claim this is for the "heaviest" applications, I just used it to spray Glidden's Gripper (primer)which you need a .015 tip. I bought the tip, and the second gasket blew after only about 5 gallons. I guess this is a little too thick for this machine, but they say it's ok in their literature.
In a nutshell, this machine delivers excellent performance, but if you're painting the entire exterior of your house like me, expect it to need maintenance.
Stellar performer

Excellet results from the paint crewThe reasons I give it 4 stars are:
- I had some problems with overspray but it was likely my fault. The overspray spreads out much farther than you would think.
- They need a way to paint straight from a container. I was using 5 gallon buckets and did not like filling the hopper over and over.
- Cleanup could be better. It takes a long time and a lot of water.
Would I buy again? Without a doubt. Great product for the money.
I was amazed with this tool!I felt like Tom Sawyer. I couldn't get the paint gun out of my brothers hand. We worked as a team, loading the sprayer, looking for missed spots and shielding areas with cardboard . Would I recommend this tool, YES!
Performed much better than expectedI painted a 1200 square foot house exterior in 8 hours, including masking. I spent more time moving the ladder than actually spraying paint. The coverage was great, and I sprayed all day without the nozzle getting clogged or having to mess with the equipment in any way.
Cleanup took about 1/2 hour. The hopper is made of a type of plastic that repels paint, so it poured out quite easily. The rest that remained, I swiped out with a paintbrush back into the can. Very little paint was wasted. Cleanup was relatively neat and paint & dirty water were easily contained in a 5 gallon bucket.
The few things that I wish were better, but aren't extremely problematic: The instructions seem overwhelming at first. They aren't as difficult as they seem, but they could be written in a way to make getting started less daunting. When the hose is full, it is not very flexible - that makes aiming the trigger while hanging on a ladder a little cumbersome. The hopper needs to have enough paint in it to pressurize - at least a gallon.
This sprayer was a huge time saver - and I used less paint than I would have by brushing or rollering.

Pistons wear out too fast
I'm satisfiedI read a previous review talking about worn parts on the sprayer. If you will adjust the paint viscosity to match the gauge included with the painter, you should have no problems. This was as simple as purchasing a can of "additive" for my paint, and stirring it in until it was the right thickness.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the painter, its ease of use, and its overall durability. This project was all detail work that couldn't be rolled and would have needed tedious brush painting. Thank you Wagner!

Wagner-2900Sory but everiting her come olmost with 10years after
Perfect FinishFit & feel - The NBC gun is very light and comfortable in my hand. The hose is nice and flexible so I didn't have to fight it while working on my project. Also, the 25 foot hose gave me plenty of room to work. The gun isn't tiny, but I was able to easily spray the inside of a cabinet without banging into the sides.
Gun - You can set the NBC gun to spray in either a horizontal line, vertical line, or a circle. Also, you can change the size of the spray to spray from a 1/2 inch all the way to twelve inches. This is all done by easily adjusting the tip. I found myself continuously adjusting my spray pattern for the specific area of the project I was spraying. Also, as other reviews have mentioned, this is a non-bleeding gun. So air does not continuously spray out of the gun unless the trigger is pulled. I did not have any luck finding other non-bleeding HVLP guns in this price range.
Finish - So far I have only used this unit with Sherwin-Williams oil based paint. This is some thick stuff. I found that I needed to thin the paint a little to get the spray to really spread nicely. But once I got it right, the finish was smooth as glass. I couldn't believe how nice it looked. An even better suprise was that I only used half of a quart after giving my console table two coats of paint. Because there isn't a lot of overspray, you use far less paint than with other types of sprayers.
Price - When looking at my options, it came down to the Wagner 2900 at $579 or the Capspray CS9100 at $999. Both units are built by Wagner and both have four turbines. It turns out that the only difference between the two units is that the 2600 comes with the NBC gun and the CS9100 comes with the Maxum II gun. Otherwise the internal components are the same. The Maxum II gun has some small advantages over the NBC gun, but not worth the extra $420. There are some descent comparisons of the two guns at www.GleemPaint.com.
Overall - This is a great buy. Remember that you may need to make some adjustments with some of the thicker coatings, but it is worth it when you can spray a project with virtually no overspray and end up with a smooth as glass finish. Cleanup is a breeze since you only need to clean the gun (the hose contains nothing but air). Happy Spraying!

Waited a month for it to ship ?gave up"
Wish I would have had one a year earilerI bought the moisture meter from Amazon and tested the installed wood, 9 to 12%. I returned to my lumber dealer and tested his pile, 12 to 14%! He won't give me money back, but at least now I'm armed with accurate information.
I've tested red oak also, 6 to 7%.
This meter won't go above .70 in specific gravity, so with IPE, for instance, set it to .50 and divide the result by 2 since IPE is incredibly dense at 1.0. It responds quickly and I feel that it will eventually make me a better judge of wood.
I've still haven't gotten used to switching it to it's various modes and the single button is a bit touchy.
Great Unit, This is the one to haveAnother consideration, is that the more expensive Wagner meter measures wood above 20% moisture content. Considering that usable wood starts at 12%, and if you want to make furniture you will need wood around 4 to 6%, the need to know measurements up to 35% is not all that neccessary.
Their isn't any calculations neccessary with this meter as well. They do give you a handly little booklet, with all of the wood types listed. That way you can set it for the specific wood type to get a very exacting measurement.
It comes in a handy carrying case. Large easy to read numbers. Takes a few uses to get the hang of it. Like holding the setting down, in order for it to go into the changing mode.
When buying wood, the amount of time is has aged-cured, or been properly kiln dried is of the essence. If you buy wood that has too much moisture content in it, you will be forced to either age it yourself, or suffer the movement as it cures over time.
It is interesting to actually take this meter into some of the larger retail Home stores and measure what appears to be kiln dried, planed wood. Sometimes those pallets are left out in the rain for awhile. Since they are strapped together, a good soaking has the oppotunity to go deep within the grain. The individual boards in that case are not exposed to the air again, until they are unwrapped.
In conclusion, moisture measurements are essential in woodworking. This unit is at a good price point, if you want to do the best job, without breaking the bank. If I had to do it all over again, I would still buy this one. Highly recommended.
