Yamaha Review Good Generator
This baby beats the Honda and Yamaha which are similar and over priced. This also puts out more power than both for much less money. It is light weight and just as quiet as Honda. Starts on one pull everytime

Yamaha Review Review of Kipor Sinemaster KGE3000Ti Portable Generator
I recently purchased the Kipor Sinemaster KGE3000Ti and am very pleased with the unit. It is a very well designed generator and does all that is stated. I bought the generator to replace a different make one which was very noisy. I wanted an emergency unit and the previous one I had was so loud I was reluctant to use it as it would be disturbing to the neighbors. The Kipor is quiet and provides enough power to run my refrigerator with several lights or the microwave with several lights. The Kipor is also very easy to start.

Yamaha Review Very pleased!
I was worried by the bad experience others had with this media - for the smaller spindles available. Mine shipped from KY and the first thing I did was visually inspect the media to see if there were any obvious flaws. All was well on this front.

The media code is RICOHJPNW11. I've burnt three DVD+RW's from this spindle in a NEC 2500A drive. Verification was perfect. Nice to have 4x media after using 1x DVD-Rw Optodisc media (which redefines the meeting of unreliable!). My hard drive backups have now become a whole lot easier!

Do check your spindles when they arrive given other peoples experiences - Amazon has a good return policy. I had good luck with both the 100 and 50 spindle (burnt some from each)

I highly recommend these!

Yamaha Review Lil powerhouse
This inverter version of Yamaha's 1000 watt generator is great. It is super quiet, super light and seems to run forever on a tank of gas. I don't really understand this "inverter" technology, but it is obviously the future for generators. Apparently this generator has a "brain" and gears up or down to only produce the amount of power called for. It is really cool. I also have Yamaha's bigger inverter model, the 2800 watt. We had 2 screwguns, a 500 watt light and a radio on the 2800 watt and it was barely breaking a sweat. This 1000i is the little brother to that great generator. It's worth the few extra bucks it cost over the traditional 1000 watt generators.

Yamaha Review Great Quiet and Efficient Generator
I bought this generator to go camping about two months before Hurricane Ivan. It powered my house and a neighbors, for 167 hours straight, stopping only long enough to add fuel. 2.5 gallons lasts 12-13 hours. This generator is so quiet, we had to go out and check on it! At campgrounds, we always get great comments on out quiet little generator. It powers our AC without any issues. At home, I have charged the batteries in my Jeep and my son's car. It is a trickle charge so it doesn't charge right away, but it has never failed. The only negative I have is, it is heavy. At over 160 pounds, it is difficult to transport it but it does come with wheels that makes it easy to roll around.

Yamaha Review I can echo the positive reviews offered for this unit.
I'm extremely satisfied with this generator; it is amazingly quiet to run (we keep it secured in the truck bed and the cord reaches the power connection on our Airstream perfectly; the generator hums away and we're virtually unaware that it's running.) No complaints about what turned out to be a substantial wait for delivery - it's reasonable to expect a delay for a new product in high demand, both due to hurricane recovery needs at the time we ordered it and the fact that it's a great unit.

Yamaha Review One Great Machine!
This generator is state of the art. It is built like a good car or personal watercraft if you know what I mean. It looks good on the outside and when you open the service panels you can tell the quality. It is extremely quiet, clean/steady power and has built-in handles and wheels. The old saying "you get what you pay for" is definitely true here. I was buying the cheap $400-600 generators available everywhere and they would last six to twelve months. Buy this one and you won't be wasting your money as I did before I learned an expensive lesson. Most folks know Yamaha has become one of the names you can trust and this generator is no exception. I've even nicknamed mine "R2D2", pretty lame I know. :)

Yamaha Review Disappointment out of the box
I couldn't wait to give this generator a run. I received it from UPS and followed the instructions to a "T". I added the oil to the manufacture's specification and ran it for about 5 minutes. The oil light fluttered and the unit shut down. (as it is suppose to in a low oil condition). I picked the unit up to see if there was something obvious and there was engine oil all over my driveway.

I called the company I ordered it from and they said the only thing it could be was the oil sensor was possibly loose from the factory. I took the unit apart and the sensor was fine. I went ahead and changed the O ring anyway and ran it again... same problem.

I completely removed the generator and engine from the housing (a job in itself) I added more oil and started the engine to see if I could tell were the oil was comming from.

There are 7 bolts that hold the crank case together and 4 of them were not installed.

Quality control must have had the day off when this unit went through the assembly line.

I took it to the nearest Yamaha dealer for repairs (warranty) however it will be in the shop for 2 weeks to install 4 bolts.

Maybe I will change the rating on this item... If I ever get the chance to use it. For now I'm very disappointed.

Yamaha Review Great Product
A smooth running, quiet and efficient little gem, perfect for dry camping in our Vintage Airstream trailer. I highly recommend it, as well as Amazon being the place to buy it.

Yamaha Review Rolling black-outs... who cares!
Purrs like a kitten. Anyone looking for an emergency generator that won't drive your neighbors nuts, can't go wrong with Yamaha's EF1000. This generator is so easy to start that even my daughter who weighs in at 95lbs has no trouble firing it up.

It's designed to run appliances like TV's, lights etc., so don't expect it to run your microwave (small microwave is O.K.) or washing machine.

Grey Davis, give me your worst, I'm ready!

Yamaha Review Can't we have Zero Stars? This is for Ridata "16x" DVD+R's
If you are playing back your recorded DVD's on very forgiving equipment then you may not notice the errors, but should you burn using Nero with the "verify disc writes" feature checked, you may see a string of errors that takes hours to log. Or they would take hours if you could sit there for it, which I didn't.

I don't know if I have just got (un)lucky, but after using two different, new burners (Lite-On 1693S and N.E.C. 3540A), burning at various speeds with the source data cached on fast IDE drives, using both NERO and DVD Shrink to burn both ISO and VOB files, I have produced about 15 to 20 useless coasters with Ridata DVD+R 16x media.

There have been some DVD's that have actually played all the way through, but enough haven't so that I have lost confidence in this product to keep anything valuable.

Having tried everything else, we've finally decided it's the discs and not the burners or software.

If the success of the DVD depended on this Ridata media, we'd still be using VHS tapes.

Yamaha Review Works great and surely recommend for others
I have been using this media for almost 1 year and so far they never gave me problems. Surely recommend for others.

Yamaha Review Great for TV shows
These work great for recording your favorite TV shows, you can watch them later, and then record over them so you do not have to buy 1000 DVDs. Word of warning though, check to make sure your DVD players can read the RW format, our household has 3 DVD players and only 2 of them can play the DVD+RWs.

Yamaha Review Jagged Edges
Stay away from these if you have a slot loading dvddrive like on an iMac. They have very unsmooth edges, and get stuck in the slot loading drives. I currently have one stuck in there, and it has pretty much disabled my iMac because all it tries to do is eject the disk whenever its turned on.

Yamaha Review Great Cost Gets Your Attention BUT...Product didn't Work
I bought the 50 pack definitely for the price and the specs seemed to be ok. I got them and had them on reserve for when my current supply of a different brand runs out. Finally I went to use a disk out of the 50 pack in this years model of the Panaonic Home DVD Recorder. Not one single disk out of the top five was detected by the recorder. Now I am stuck with useless disks since my return date is passed with Amazon and I can't get a refund. Now I am glad I paid so little for them.

Yamaha Review Excellent product.
Great discs. I always set Nero to check for errors after burning, and do post-burn CRC checks. I've burnt about 25 so far most at 4x and had zero errors.
I read some reviews where people somehow try to justify faulty media but I just don't understand it. If the pack says 50 discs I expect to make 50 copies. Well, maybe one or two coasters, but not 10, or 15! I would rather pay a few $$ extra as long as I know that I'm getting reliable discs. Otherwise what's the point of even bothering to make DVDs if you don't care about the data that's written on them right? I bought Velocity DVD-Rs before and had to return them because they were completely unusable junk. Paid a few more bux for these 4x Ridata and so far happy I did!

Yamaha Review performs well
I've been using this generator for one year without any problems. In the field, it powers delicate gear like mole and kino lights for video production, which require clean power.

Starts easy, runs quiet.

Yamaha Review Nice Little Generator for Portable Use or Minimal Home Power
When I started shopping for generators I had two different goals in mind:

1) I wanted to be able to take it along with me to power a variety of equipment, which would include photo strobes and other potentially sensitive equipment.

2) I wanted to have a limited home backup system, to power a medium-sized refrigerator and a few lights during a sustained power outage. Air conditioning is not a necessity and the fact that all heating appliances are gas-powered means that 220v and other high-power applications were not a consideration.

The first use demands a voltage stablized and preferably an inverter-type generator because the photo and lighting equipment is sensitive to this stuff. It also requires a unit that is light and compact enough to fit in the back of my car. The second use demands at least 2000w of available power and preferably a bit more.

In looking around, I found several options, including the Honda EU2000i and EU3000i and the Yamaha EF2400is, EF30is EF2800ic and YG2800ic. The latter two are pretty much the same model with minor feature differences. All the others are much "prettier" packages, but that was pretty irrelevant to me. The 3000w models from both companies are much heavier in part due to the inclusion of an unnecessary electric starter and battery. The Yamaha EF2400is is an attractive and "fashionable" unit but is actually heavier than the more powerful 2800w Yamaha generators. The 2000w Honda is a really neat and compact unit, but with only 1600w continuous, it's a bit of a weakling for even bare-bones home backup. If my sole use was for portable applications, the Honda would probably be the one.

A note about all generators is that they all rate themselves by available "peak" power, but the maximum continuous power is usually lower. You don't want to cut it too close.

I chose the YG2800 Yamaha (advertised as an "industrial") generator over the "consumer" EF2800 because I got a better deal on it. The heavier duty frame and ground fault interrupt were not major factors, though I don't mind having them.

I have been very pleased with the unit. While it is definitely bare-bones in it's styling, that fact also makes it quite easy to service. To date, my "service" has included one oil change and that's it. The bare-bones styling does make it relatively lightweight and compact when compared even to Yamaha's 2400w model, but apparently at the cost of a little bit of noise.

Nonetheless, I found this unit to be very quiet in normal use. This week we've had two blackouts in my area, and while neither one of them went on for long enough to really justify hooking things up, I decided to power it up and experiement a bit. With the refrigerator, a laptop computer, my cable modem and a few lightbulbs connected to the generator, it still purred along, with only a momentary increase in speed and sound level when the refrigerator's compressor kicked in.

I do not have this generator wired into my home in any way. I have a few long 15A extension cords around and run one to the refrigerator and another to the center of my living area where I can plug the other stuff into it. For my relatively modest townhome that is all I need.

In the field, this generator is also quite pleasant to work with. It purrs away in the background, powering a 2000w/s Dynalite power pack and a few other minor accessories. I'm shooting stills so sound is not much of an issue, but I think it would probably be OK for video too. A 100' extension cord would get it far enough away to isolate the event being filmed from the generator noise. It's that quiet.

All-in-all, I'm happy. This is a great generator for portable use or very limited home backup, and probably would be great for camping/RV use as well. It's not a full-blown home backup system and does not claim to be. For its intended purpose, it's fantastic.

Yamaha Review Just don't get it.
You know what, I just don't get it. Why on earth would anyone spend over a thousand dollars on something without really knowing what they were getting.

You have the first reviewer that complained about not being informed about the need for a transfer switch. Well, I hate to say it, but you don't NEED a transfer switch. You only need a transfer switch if you want to connect it to your home's breaker panel. You must do that regardless of generator in order to meet the latest code standards. You could just as easily run extension cords. They also mentioned about not knowing the NEMA code for the locking plug. Off the top of my head, I believe I was told it was a NEMA L5-30. Funny, I was able to get the information. A quick call to Yamaha would have answered the question.

Then you have the person that complained about the generator not being 240V. First, no where do the specs read that it outputs 240V; it only specifies 120V. Second, the NEMA L5-30 is only for 120V up to a maximum of 30 amps. Third, you could always hardwire a cable from the transfer switch to a male plug for the generator. That's just one solution . . . there are others. Fourth, I clearly read on the website that Amazon would not accept returns.

I would agree that providing a manual online would be nice, but dinging Amazon or Yamaha for an individual's failure to adequately research a purchase is not the fault of Amazon or Yamaha. I called Yamaha with questions and they gladly answered.

All I'm saying is be fair with your review.

Yamaha Review Was good, but not anymore
I used to buy 25-packs of these all the time with only a problem with a few of them. Just after Christmas I bought a 50-pack of them. After the first dozen, the rest wouldn't work at all in my Akai stand-alone burner, or the plextor burner on my computer. Other brands are working fine in them so it's NOT the machines or firmware. I bought a 25-pack last month because I didn't have problems with them before. About 2 out of every 3 of the 25-pack have problems with dropouts, skips, freezes, locking up the players, or didn't record at all. They definitely downgraded their quality, or are shipping out more of that "bad batch".

Yamaha Review Not good for Philips DVD recorder
Too many "disc errors" when trying to use them in a Philips DVD
recorder. Most other dvd+r/rw discs worked fine.

Yamaha Review Good stuff
I just bought a new computer with a dvd burner built in so i wanted to try it out. I was advised to buy these first and they worked great. I've bought 2-50 packs and have only messed up about 1 disc from each pack. So that seems pretty good to me. Maybe the other people who gave them bad reviews just had crappy dvd burners. The quality is great and the errors are minimal, and you cant beat the price anywhere.
